Gas Meter Box & Work

Hi guys hoping for a little bit of advice.

Currently doing some prep work for my extension to be built, this requires the existing gas meter to be relocated.
It is currently situated on the side to the rear of the property and the idea is for it to be relocated to the front of the same side.

Question 1a) Current box is recessed, can the new box be changed for say a semi submerged box? &

1b)Is it something I can install in place myself or do I need to let the company doing the meter move install said box?

2) As far as reconnecting the copper inlet pipe goes. Would the pipe be ok to run back along the current outside wall (Below house floor level) to the existing inlet to the house? Again, this pipe would be below the floor level of the extension once built.*

(* - I’m aware that the above needs to be done by CORGI and not something I am doing myself).

CORGI haven't been the official registration body for gas engineers for over a decade - it's Gas Safe now.

You could reconnect to the existing entry point but I'd be looking at whether there is a more practical route to take. You ideally want the shortest route possible from meter to boiler

Duly noted on the distance between meter & boiler. We will be getting a new boiler once the build is up so certainly something to take into consideration. Thanks.

The meter, meter box and the pipework supplying it are the the responsibility of the local gas transporter. Round my way it's Wales and West Utilities. You'd have to get them to quote for moving the the meter and they'd be the ones to discuss recessed options with.

From the meter outlet to the appliances is your responsibility but of course there you have to employ a Gas Safe registered installer.

Nothing to stop you buying and installing the new meter box yourself
