Hello All,

I've had a bit of a search, but can't easily find an answer, so hope one of you guys may be able to help.

Is there an regulation stating minimum distances from a gas meter to appliances? (thinking boiler and hob)

It just that a house im working in has the gas meter on the wall and the boiler is being fitted adjacent. Both to be later enclosed in wall cabinets. To the untrained eye, it just seems too close for comfort (maybe only 200mm max horizontal gap) heat source close to main supply doesn't sound like a perfect arrangement to me

It also appears as though when the kitchen is fitted, the hob may be located underneath. Maybe not directly, but given the size and shape of the kitchen, it can't be too far away, no matter how its done.

All I can find quickly is that it mustn't be "close to" a heat source.
Also it can't be sited where food is stored.
Plus a load of other stuff probably not a problem in your case.

thanks Chris,

I bumped into the plumber doing the work over the weekend, asked him how things unfolded.

It appears as though there is nothing set out in any reg that he could find, but he subsequently spoke to the boiler manufacturer. They didn't have a hard and fast answer either, but recommended that 300mm would be a minimum seperation.

Guess something has to move, shame the flue has been cored out
