Hi
Can anybody tell me what these pipes are for? One is 22mm and the other is 16mm. They exit the wall behind an electric fire that fit flush with the plasterboard but there is evidence of the wall having been resurfaced adjacent to these pipes. They point down and are open at the bottom where they are enclosed in a wire cage.

We wanted to fit a gas fire but there does not appear to be an outlet near the hearth. The house is only a few years old and was built by Charles Church. Is it likely that the fire place was prepared for both gas and electric but that the gas supply was hidden when the initial buyer had an electric fire fitted?

Any answers would be much appreciated.

Being encased I would guess they are blow-off pipes. One 15mm from your boiler, one 22mm from your unvented cylinder?
