A suspended ceiling is being considered. Is it OK to run an internal installation gas pipe in a suspended ceiling?

Domestic. Plasterboard. The ceiling will have downlighters in it, so vented to a degree.

So not at suspended ceiling at all then!

It's a void and will need venting
I t will be a suspended ceiling for sure. It will have downlighters, so the downlighters will give ventilation. Are you sating the ceiling void will need vent grills?

From your description, you have a ceiling, below which you will be installing a skimmed plasterboard ceiling. It's therefore a void and will need ventilating - I wouldn't have considered the downlight apertures as sufficient to ventilate the enclosed space.

But just in case it doesn't !

"19(6) Where any installation pipework is not itself contained in a ventilated duct, no person shall install any installation pipework in any shaft, duct or void which is not adequately ventilated."

Thanks. So conflicting advice on this thread and in some cases non whatsoever. It will be in a plastic pipe outer sleeve. Easy and cheap to do. I was to specify that to be done anyhow as it seems the best and safest way. Thanks again.

No - the conflicting advice is because you incorrectly described the installation. Putting the supply pipework in a plastic sleeve doesn't give you any compliance with regs. The pipework is in a sealed void and therefore needs to be vented.

The gas pipe will be in a sealed at one en plastic pipe that does not open into the ceiling void. The pipe then is NOT inside the ceiling void. It is inside a pipe. ;)

Well in that case you carry on.

If you ask for advice and then ignore it then there's very little point in asking for advice.

Just as a hint - if you ask for advice:

1) Give all the facts at the start
2) If you don't like the answer, then don't ask the question.

Thanks for your attempt. But it was just plain wrong. You think a gas pipe in sealed pipe is still inside a void. Come on now! Anyway I am off down the pub like proper fella.
