Had a rep up this evening to discuss a shower room makeover and Mrs B raised the possibility of a suspended ceiling. Rep said that for some reason suspended ceilings weren't figuring so much in catalogues at present but that he would investigate further. This made me wonder are they a good thing or a bad thing and so decided to ask the diynot community. So pros and cons please.

Nowt wrong with a false ceiling if you've got a very high bathroom. You can cram a load of insulation in the void so the room warms up quicker and holds heat better. Put a VCL in as well to minimise moisture heading into the loft. You can have an extract fan directly above the shower ducted thru the false ceiling and out through the wall (rather than some horrid bodge into the loft and poked out under the eaves).
Suspended to me implies office tiles and frame which wouldn't appeal quite so much.
