I had a gas leak from the pipe going to the Fire and the gas man has renewed the pipe in the floor nd covered it with concrete after rapping it with some tape.

But...... I noticed when he was putting it in he was using copper pipe. I asked him if this was OK and he said it was and that the joints were OK because the installation code had been updated in 2008. ????

Just wanted to know whether you could use copper pipe or it has to be a special metal and if the pipes have to be welded or can they jsut be tightened up using an adjustable spanner.

If you mean compression then no they cannot be used.

Did he test before he wrapped the pipe and make good, out of interest

Nothing was updated in 2008 its always been ok to use copper pipe under concrete provided correct joints used and also cleaned up and taped as well as the pipe
