Had a chap round last week to give me a quote for replacement boiler.
He phoned me today to ask if can come and test gas pressure to make sure that it's at least 18 before he can give quote.
He says there is some kind of test facility within the old boiler ( gloworm space saver 38) that can be utilised for the test.
Does any of that make any sense
Thanks

If his quote relies on using existing gas pipe he needs to ensure that the pressure drop on the supply pipe will be within tolerance when the new boiler is running at full chat.
With new (or visible) pipework you can do sums, with buried pipework then testing drop on an existing known load makes sense.

Wonder why he did not test pressure when he was round yours before

Good point DP but then none of the other installers that I have had round even mentioned doing a pressure check before installing the new boiler so I presumed they did it during or after installation.
