gas smell

replaced a pilot solenoid after the system was down for a few days the boiler is now running but there is a smell of gas/flue gas in the house. (have turned gas of at the mains)

So call transco . most pilot solenoids dont usually require gas to be touched . what boiler
 
You've got two choices. Well really one. Ring an RGI up to sort the problem. Or ring Transco who'll check the system, if there is a leak they'll TOFO. But not before placing a lovely card informing you if you turn it back on your lible to a £5000 fine. Which leads me back to first option. Ring a RGI :rolleyes:

So cylinderical solenoid that slides onto a shaft with 2 wires ??
 
Well that does not affect the gas soundness at all.
If you can smell gas your first port of call must always be transco and not any other RGI.
Your leak maybe uncontrolled ie on other side of main tap
They will respond within an hour and will check your intermals and dependendant on what they find they will check your service pipe etc.
And if they then turn you off its for your own safety
