Gas Valve issue in old boiler

Had another assessment done on this one as Sime themselves confirmed the part was available, not obsolete at all. Glad I did too as, thanks to a second engineer being more specific and a lot clearer in his diagnosis, established that it the SIME 6187611 AMISCO COIL 220V. Modurec which needs replaced. Think I will need all the luck in the world to find thar since Sime themselves admit that this part can't be sourced anywhere anymore. Unless someone on here knows different.

The GC no is 47-719-03 and the part no is what you have above 6187611

There are no emergency stocks that anyone would hold, sometimes obsolete means just that and there are none, unfortunately. You might find a second hand one somewhere but that is taking a chance.

I can't understand why BG won't just replace the gas valve in its entirety since a new one would come with the Modureg. Sime have confirmed that the valve itself is still available, the Modureg as a separate part is not. I am going to take this further anyway as this makes no sense to me. Why pay Homecare?

It might be worth stripping it down and seeing if the coil can be repaired. might be just a broken wire on the rear of the terminals.

I'm afraid the site rules dictate that we are not allowed to sanction DIY gas work. Obviously working directly on a gas valve is exactly that and wouldn't be recommended.

No way was I gonna attempt it myself. I was asking in general terms if gas engineers would do such a thing as opposed to a full replacement.

I don't know any, you could ask yours. Don't try anything yourself, even if disconnected.

Nope, sometimes you can replace solenoid or mods on gasvalves - more often not nowadays but no one is going to try to repair one its not worth the risk

Stop focusing on one part that you think you'll get cheap and either buy a complete gas valve or look at a new boiler
