I have an aluminium greenhouse that was in the garden when we moved in 2 years ago. I now want to reinstate it so my wife can use it.

What would your recommendations be for a base. (I dug out an area for a full concrete slab but am now having second thoughts). I was thinking of leveling the compact earth it currently stands on and then laying geotex and some gravel with a few slabs down the centre.

Also there are a few broken panes of glass. Where can I get horticultural glass as it never seems to be advertised? (I live in Basingstoke if anybody knows this area). Also how expensive is it.

Thanks in advance.

Hello there,

for the base it depends on what the green house is going to be used for? if its just pots etc a "hard" floor would be better, if its for toms etc they are best planted in the ground with well dug in manure, nevermind these grow bags. Also i got horticulture glass 2' x 2' for around a pound a sheet from my local builders yard.
