getting Beko door seal off

just been watching youtube of guy taking out what looks like a wire spring from inside the door seal... but he does it too fast to observe properly.

does the sprng thing go right round the seal? he prized it out using a screwdriver is it hooked to itself?

thanks.. you rotate the end of the spring round the loop to take it off.. like taking a key off a key fob?

seems bloody tight
