Hi,

Stupidly splashed white paint on metal tile trim and only realised when I smudged it.

Any tips on getting rid of this without affecting the black trim?

(Paint is zinesser mould resistant paint)

What material is the black trim made from?
Its coated aluminium
This one:

@Joe Fixit Hmmm .. that does not state if it's anodised or just a painted finish on the alloy. If it's anodised then a light application of a paint stripper should remove those smudges, but if a painted finish, then you'll have to ask in B&Q.

@Scally-Ho it does mention it's anodised in the specification section. Any recommendations of paint stripper to use?

Will have a look and start crossing my fingers

Thanks for your help

I would try something more gentle to start with. You can get progressively aggressive if it doesn't work, meths, white spirit, turps, cellulose thinners then pait stripper would be my suggestions.

Ok, thanks. That sounds logical. What's meths? Like 99% isopropyl?

Also turps?

Its a degreaser but can remove various sticky type things. Purple in colour sold at hardware shops, boots etc. Can be used for a multitude of tasks used neat or add an egg cup full to a couple of pints of water to clean your windscreen, windows, tape residue.

What sorcery is this?! Sounds like a useful to have round the house anyway

That’s it, I generally have a bottle in the garage. Really good at cleaning winter crap of the car windscreen. As I said and egg cup full in a couple of pints of water and a micro fibre cloth brings windows up a treat.
