Giacomini Valve Pin

I've read the FAQs, opened the valve, found the pin in the body [not the head] and made it move about 2mm up and down. The rad is still only lukewarm. How far should it move if its working correctly?

I am not sure exactly what you are referring to but if its a standard diverter valve then its about 6-7 mm.

Its a Thermostatic Radiator Valve.

By all accounts Giacomini is rubbish. I think I'm going to have to replace it.

Then they are usually about 4-5 mm.

The valves are fine.

The problem is dirt in the system water which jams them.

Bounce a hammer on it a lot of times. It might come free.
