Glancing light issue

Morning,

I'm currently decorating my living room and have fitted some wall lights that shine directly on the wall but have been having issues with glancing light, have been applying filler and sanding it down to try and get the wall flat as possible but it's taking ages and it isn't quite working out.

The photo is before finishing sanding down, is there any quicker way of doing it? Or any advice? Have
