Can anyone help me get my Vokera 20-80 rs serviced/repaired?

I know it's twenty years old, but I think it's a great boiler. The problems it has just now are:
i.sometimes, only when I using the kitchen hot top, the boiler doesn't switch off after I close the tap; and
ii. the pressure is dropping and it doesn't really register until I turn on the kitchen hot tap at which point the needle on the meter jumps all over the place and settles somewhere around 0.5.
It suggests an air lock??? Any decent engineers in Glasgow that can sort it?

you could have it serviced and ask the engineer to bring a service kit for the hw/3 way valve section but dont think id put much money into a repair as a replacement boiler might make more sense long term

Ray, for reliabilty, this boiler will knock spots off many new boilers that are going in at the moment. Have repaired many Flowmatics but service kit is something I have never needed for the Flowmatic or Excel.

It is not the diverter that causes problem for the Flowmatic. At around 20 years, it is on the rung below the VCW242 or T3 Vaillant when it comes to build quality.

Do not known many boilers that have had a soaking that then come to life when PCB is dried out.

By the way, will suggest replace a boiler only if it makes economical sense as boiler replacement supply and fit is normally around £2k and factor in repeated calls to nurse the steamers. Have not know any band B or C that stopped working because the steam put a halt to system operation. Flowmatic is quite happy working away when water quality is pi55 poor.

ive used lots of service kits from pin seals to the large diaphragms and seen often when the hw comes on makes the microswitch but wont travel back when the taps turned off leaving the boiler appear to be on hot water demand and causing it to over heat/ throw the pressure gauge about.
i know when they work theyre fine (apart from the band G energy rating)
but if the 3-way valve sticking was the culprit and its not been maintained much over the years and also suspicions that the exp vessels burst/flat
i dont think id bother repairing it tbh....personal opinion though! and i know we dont all have 1500-2000 in our spare pockets to change boilers.

You have to take the diverter to pieces and boil the bits in citric acid to clean them.

I once found a return spring broken in two as a reason for not returning.

More often find the tail piece leaking mains water but the seal if fitted makes the system pressure increase.

i can guarantee you didn't find the tail plate leaking mains water.

and i know we dont all have 1500-2000 in our spare pockets to change boilers.

Fair enough. It certainly will not cost that if it is to be a cheap boiler change without other necessary work carried out. Factor in power flush followed by chemical cleanse, gas line upgrade (who wants a mere 9.5l of hot water delivery nowadays) and additional control to be compliant and figure approaches £2.0k mark.

Ray, no boiler will work for ever it has not been looked after. Expansion vessel failure does happen on the Flowmatic but it is rare compared to WBs or Vokera Lineas. Three way valve sticking is mainly due to front end spring distorted or even broken.
