Hi all
My whole house is pine - well almost
Pine skirting boards and all doors and frames and banisters.

I am looking at changing it by glossing all white. (lived here 4 years)

Can anyone please give me any tips before i start - undercoat? etc

Many thanks Parkie

use knotting before any painting is done, prime undercoat then gloss,im sure the peeps who do decorating will see this and give you the tips.

As the woodwork is already painted in varnish the knotting and the primer are of no use. It already has a coat of an oil based paint, ie varnish. The woodwork will need to be very well sanded to provide a key for the undercoat and subsequent gloss finish. The thing is with varnished or stained woodwork is that when it has been painted with undercoat and gloss it tends to chip off easily if knocked as it it doesnt adhere to the varnished surface too well.

Yep...certainly needs a good sanding then id reccommend a coat of dulux supergrip primer, similar before you undercoat.
