Help!
My boiler appears to have developed a hairline crack in the plastic pipe / casing that the domestic hot water pipe attaches to. At present I can see the water dribbling out.
Can this part be replaced or is it worthwhile looking for another boiler if so can anyone recommend one
Cheers Garry

sounds like the plastic hydroblock has cracked.....ure looking at around £200+ in parts alone.not eaxactly the easiest part to replace and ure looking at 2-3hrs on top

should I relace part or look at a new boiler?

Only you can make that decision!

A new and better boiler might be about £1600 installed.

The repair might be about £440 !!!

Several installers rate these boilers well. In my view if such a common fault occurs I dont trust them. Often it sprays water all over the PCB!

Just remembered they are taking me out to dinner next week so I had better hope they dont read this.

I have replaced similar parts on similar boilers within an hour.

where abouts is the leak exactly? could be the flow sensor or the LH hydroblock, flow sensor not so sad. If its the hydroblock you'd be best calling Glowworm for a fixed price repair.

What about old british gas fixed price repair at about £180?

That would take at least 2 visits as they try and ascertain the problem and order up spares whereas the GW engineer will 95% likely have the spares on the van. I guess it depends how much you value your time!
