When firing up, boiler lights but it seems that the flow of gas continually surges "in & out".

When checking the Neon Indicators, no. 4 is not lit. The manual states this is an ignition, pilot or flame proving fault.

Any ideas? - Thanks.

It sounds as if there is a combustion problem. Whilst at the boiler I would quickly diagnose the fault probably just by seeing it.

However in your case I cannot guess anything from what you have said.

As it seems to be a gas combustion problem then I would suggest that you get a competent CORGI engineer to see it.
