I have a 10 tr old Glow Worm Ultimate boiler for my hot water and central heating. 1 year ago it had a faulty fan, which was replaced. Recently the boiler has not been working. Brit Gas were called and found no fault so they gave it a service. Since they left I had hot water for 1 week. Then I went on holiday and switched everything off. I've come back but cannot get the boiler to work. When I switch the power on to the boiler I hear an initial clicking or cracking noise but nothing else. I'm a novice with all this. Is there something I can do to fix this. I'm reluctant to call Brit Gas as they were here only 1 month ago.
Thanks

It does sound that the pilot is not starting(common on these) and it requires a RGI to fix the fault as it requires a bit of work inside the combustion chamber. Its a very easy fault, but not diyable. Good repairman should be able to fix in 30 mins all going well.
I assume that the fan is starting ok?

it does not matter call them anyway as on this model you can`t realy touch anything

I read somewhere that the fan should start and then ignition. This isn't the case. There is no indication that the fan starts. All I hear is the click/crack noise and then nothing. Do you still think it is the ignition or could there be a fan fault.

Without being there there is no point in guessing.

Even if I did know what it was I still could not tell you how to repair it if it needs a registered engineer.

Call back BG, everyone else does!
