Arrive home from work Fri 7pm to be told that we have a sick boiler. No fauld code, no led. Qualified sparky checked it over, power available all the way to PCB, so no idea why it just ceased to work. Next option is to call Gloworm to probably be told that I need to spend a lot of money. Any USEFUL comments appreciated. Should the fuse on the PCB board protect it?
Disconected the pressure sensor, no joy... Dead

Get an engineer in as it sounds like the PCB, and on these I'm pretty sure you'll need both the main PCB and the user interface PCB.

Might well be worth calling Glowworm to get a quote on a fixed price repair for this one

if theres no display at all if could be the pressure sensor. you could try unplugging it see if it makes any difference. If not I'd say at this point get an engineer in

My best guess would be the combustion door seal has failed and water has leaked onto the fan transformer.

Call GW as if this has happened you will need the seal and pcb changed - not a DIY job. Depending on how bad it is may need a new combustion door kit as well.

Sparky knows no more about boilers than a qualified mechanic; get a RGI who specialises in repairs to check it out.

is the display present? or is it completely blank? if its blank its almost certainly onr of the low voltage components shorting draining power of the PCB. more than likely fan.

This has just happened to mine, i have replaced all pcb's & no luck, the fan moves slightly when turned on? but then seems to 'jam'? i have no dispay on lcd @ all..
Any ideas? or just buy a fan?

thanks all

yes buy a new fan, if that dont work, change the pump and the gas valve, if still no luck you could always try the zig ignitor, the wiring harness, the display board, the diverter valve, low water pressure sensor, flow sensor. Not necessarily in that order...but good luck

If you have changed all three boards you may have spent over £500 so far

At this stage it's gonna cost another £300 to get Glowworm in. If you made a mistake fitting the plugs on the new main board, chances sre you've stuffed it. And you still don't know if that was the fault in the first place.

When your GW engineer comes tell im what you've tried, but in the meantime check all the plugs are exactly as shown on the new wiring diagram.

And this is above you and most DIYers, so don't take it personally.

the connector onto J4 has the fan contact on it. have you got it on correctly?

i had the misfortune to have to replace the circuit board once. there is a notch on the circuit board that locates a lug on the connector. the one i had was out by a millimetre and threw the contacts out. i ended up removing a tiny bit of plastic on the connector to make it work.

other than that time for an RGI methinks.
