I have a 15ish year old gloworm, (with a filler tank in attic for radiators), it's been repaired loads- couplings, air let outers, two timers for pump and boiler so air can be circulated out after heater is off....... My plumber says it needs replacing because there is a leak in the boiler.. .....it hisses alot like it's overheating ... is it not possible to get this repaired? can anyone help?

hi does sound as its getting worn, the hissing is normal scale, muck etc blocking pipework inside boiler (the water is starting to boil ,bad) it is possible to descale it with chemicals but you already have a leak ! you could change the heat exchanger if you can get one. (not that cheap)
it wouldn't be a bad idea to change the boiler (more economical on gas etc but get lots of quotes!) but its not impossible to fix yours .
