I am new to this boiler and had to call someone in to get it going. I asked the guy how to charge it up. I understand how to attach the braided hose and turn on the supply. The other valve has a horizontal slot in the valve and I was told to leave it like that when charging. Is that right please ?

Deprnds on if pipe is horizontal or vertical

The pipe is vertical. Could it be a non return type valve?
