The most common fault on these seems to be that they do not respond to DHW demand.

The usual solution is to take out and clean the flow turbine only to find that there is nothing obvious wrong with it. Sometimes the turbine is replaced instead.

In either senario the same problem often returns within days or weeks.

Has anyone ever found out what the underlying problem really is?

Tony

Faulty flow switches. They made a load which would come on at low flow rates, then go off again at full flow.
The replacements are a bit different so you think you've got the wrong part at first.
Did you get that dhwhe out?

The turbine sticks and frees itself they have had two upgrades to my knowledge. The first is identical sensor except the turbine is black. They then brought out a black sensor completely different shape same p/no though

Unscrew the nut under the flow switch and the turbine will drop down. In between the turbine and the plastic nut you can usually see a small plastic bit protruding this is what slows/stops the turbine spinning. If you push this bit back into the centre of the turbine it will work again for a couple of weeks until it drops out again.

It is possible to glue this bit back in.

That all sounds interesting.

However, the last one I saw was the later type only a few days old and the "nut" seems to be glued in and not openable.

I took it all out and put it back again and it lasted about two days!!! Whats likely to be wrong with this new one?

I have no current plans to remove the HE but was only asking so I know the exact degree of difficultness !

Tony

Just done my first one.
Didn't find any difficultnesses.
Once drained, only takes a couple of minutes.
Involves gas so not for DIY though.
