Our Glowworm energy r18 only switches off when power disconnected from it..

We can control the Hive , hub , receiver and remote thermostat so the Ch & Water lights on the receiver switch on and off etc.. but the boiler just stays on

Have done all the Hive system and boiler reset procedures but as soon as power is put to the boiler ( even if CH & Water lights on the Hive Receiver are off , but main control light at top of receiver is on ) the boiler just fires up.. ??
Have on occasions been able to press the Hot Water button on the Hive Receiver to switch it on ( green ) then a minute later press the button to switch the Hot Water off......green light goes out and the boiler closes down , just as if we have solved the problem,,, However after 1-15 seconds the boiler just switches on again.

So it constantly runs ...

its just as if the boiler is getting other signals like the safety thermostat telling it the temperature has dropped really low and it needs to warm up..( obviously the temp hasn't dropped that low )

Any ideas folks...

Thankyou

It sounds like you have a stuck motorised valve , do you have 2 x 2 port or a 3 port valve? (normally found near the hot water cylinder)

as @picasso you have a faulty motorised valve, your hive does not tell the boiler when to come on, it opens the valves and they tell the boiler when to come on

Post a photo of the advised faulty valve and we might be able to suggest further information, such as whether it’s easy enough to replace the actuator

thanks everyone wondered if it may be that .. although the glowworm boiler and hive etc is only a few years old

the system has been in over 25 yrs and on occasions have had to change the tri-valve a couple of times

However,,,,when the power is removed you can hear and feel the motorised valve returning to rest..

would this still point to the motorised valve ??
