Glue fabric to ply

In the process of fitting out a narrow boat and want to "glue" some fabric- the sort of fine hessian found in mattresses and sofas in other words a fairly loose weave- to ply panels. The panels will be screwed to the hull sides and the fabric then I think glued in place. Advice on glue suggestions please bearing in mind the difficulty of getting it wrinkle free -so contact advesive probably no good

I'd go for spray contact adhesive then apply very carefully using a wadding "presser" to avoid stretching the fabric. If the fabric is really open weave it may need to have iron-on interfacing applied forst to stop the tendency of the material to stretch - this is a standard sewing technique and is used, for example, in men's jackets
