god awful search

I keep getting this:

I search for posts by ME in electrics uk - forum 8 in the last 90 days.

If I widen the search to forever, it finds posts by people with steve IN their name.

Whats happening?

You need to search using your user name Steve, no good searching for posts by ME.

I know. And why the hell does Admin treat this as a hobby? Why not market it? And make it a proper business. Its peeing me off that none of these issues ever get addressed, yet he keeps adding stuff to the forum.

An Author search seems to work OK, but it show all your posts and none from others with Steve in their name. Obviously there is a problem with the general search using the author's name as a filter.

The Author Search only searches for the exact name as entered in the search, while the "Return results written by" only searches for a name which contains the string entered. So "steve" can be anywhere in the name.
