Since I travelled from North Wales to Edinburgh to work, I would think they must charge a lot or they would have found more local electricians. But there has never been a set rate for an area, it varies and I have earned in my own area a huge range so it must be same for any area.
I found that people starting out often charged less than established guys, some times because they were no good, but also because they had not built up a word of mouth client list, so were trying to build up that business.
But back in 1985 I was getting £25 per hour, that did not mean all electricians earned that or I continued to earn that, a lot depends on the job, writing a PLC program likely I was earning more than when fitting an extra socket.
