All sounds like good advice. Thanks all for the replies. Well i have just picked up a pair of knipex pliars so a few more tools and i'll be away!
Actually, i do have a few more tools!

Get a load of business cards printed and always carry them with you.

You never know when or where you're going to meet someone you know and each person you meet is a prospective customer.

Give a wad of cards to all your family and friends so they can pass them on to their friends and relatives.

Charge the going rate for the job don't ever appear to be cheap as this will be expected by all your subsequent customers.

One more thing, get some stickers, put them on the item you work on.
