Hi everyone,

I'm going to be painting some interior woodwork in my upstairs hallway soon and i just wondered which brands of undercoat and paint were best to use? I know a lot of them yellow quickly these days....

I'll be doing doors and skirting mainly.

Thanks in advance!

Using water-based gloss (rather than oil based) is preferable, as

(i) it doesn't yellow
(ii)( it dries quickly
(iii) it doesn't smell

I've tried most of the makes available and recommend Johnstone's Aqua waterbased acrylic undercoat and their acrylic gloss. Really good stuff.

Be sure to use s synthetic (not bristle) brush.
