Hello all, I have 10 holes to drill for m10 tap size in 10mm thick plate.

I beed some decent hss drills!.

Any recommendations please?, are DeWalt any good.

I can sharpen them again so no loss if I have to re sharpen after 3 holes or so.

Cheers Keith.

I find the Erbauer Ti N coated bits from Screwfix very good....you'll have to go elsewhere for an 8.9mm one though!
John :)

'Split point' cobalt bits would be my recommendation. Presto or anything from Sheffield are probably the best but the price will make you weep.

So, nowadays, I just go for anything made in Germany, usually Heller. I drilled many holes in 10mm mild steel with a new bit, although I was only tapping for M6, i.e. a 5mm bit. Downside - split point bits can't be resharpened manually and maintain the 'split point', they just become 'normal' bits after that, but still very good if they are cobalt.
