Granular cellulose roof insulation

I have this material between the ceiling joists of my house in some of the more inaccessible places. My question is whether it should be replaced to increase the insulation quality. It has been there a long time(maybe 20/30 years) and is very horrible to handle, and is very dense compared to other materials ive used, eg rockwool, kingspan. I am laying another 200mm of ordinary insulation roll on top of the rest of the loft spaces.
