We have an area by the side of our house thats about 20ft x20ft and was just soil. We are looking to have an extension added here is about 5 years time, so in the meantime we plan to gravel the area and use this area to park the car on in the short term.
Having searched around on the internet looking at different options, we obviously don't want to spend a fortune on this area as it will only have a life span of around 5 years. So I have dug down around 6 inches and the soil at this level is very clay-like and compact. I was planning to:
1. Lay a driveway membrane down to stop weeds etc.
2. Then form a base using 411 limestone which are fines and dust, which I have been told if I spray water on this will turn the 411s into almost a concrete base.
3. Then add my gravel ontop.
My question is that I cant seem to find any of my local building suppliers who can supply 411 Limestone - they only seem to be able to offer is MOT Type 1 Roadstone? So will this alternative be suitable? Or would I be best to try and find this 411 limestone as adding water will help make it more concrete-like?
