Hi All,

I have a Worcester-Bosch Greenstar 30CDi boiler installed in 2006. Recently it has started this problem when in the morning it produces no hot water despite the gas firing up when the hot water tap is open, but only cold water is coming out. When I leave it running for a while, the temperature display goes up very high, but the water remains cold, which is when I stop using it to prevent it from overheating.
The central heating is OK though.
Also, when I switch off the system and leave it for about 30 minutes, and switch it back on, the hot water comes back, and everything is back to normal. But the next morning it's only cold water again. So it's like when the hot water is not used for several hours, and only the central heating is used, then when there is demand for hot water, it's not produced.

Am I correct believing that it's the diverter valve motor or something else? Or does it need just a good servicing? It hasn't been serviced in the past five years, so there could be some limescale build-up in there.

I can do smaller repairs, like replacing the manifold, which was leaking about a year ago, so if it's something on a similar scale, I can do it. I'd like to avoid paying £315 that the manufacturer quoted as a fixed price. I may try others but in the meantime I'd like to know if it's something I can do myself.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
