Ive recently moved into a rented place and it has a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 28i Junior Boiler. As we moved in in May the central heating has been switched off completely (done that myself) however I still appear to be using a lot of gas and I assume thats cos I always have hot water so we must be paying to heat it all the time - we have never run out! I can find no way of adjusting the times of the hot water being heated or anything to do with the hot water at all. There were no instruction manuals in the property and the agents dont have a clue. When I look online it says this boiler has a "keep hot facility" & "hot water instantly" - does this mean I have no choice but to pay to heat it even if I dont want it?! Im confused, any advice or comments would be greatly received!

You have a combi.

The boiler only heats the water when you run a tap.

If you press the "eco" button on the boiler it will light up green, that means "preheat" is off.

If you leave preheat on it will turn the boiler on every 45mins (approx) to keep the boiler ready for you turning on a tap.

Leave it on if you can't be arsed to wait a few seconds longer for your hot water.

If you are not in such a rush for hot water turn it off.

I'd say turn it off

What makes you think you are using a lot of gas, and what do you call: a lot?
