Grohe bath mixer cartridge filter

Hi,

We have fluctuating hot water when filling the bath so I have taken apart the mixer to check the cartridge and filter. When I look inside at the filter it does not cover the whole opening, is that normal? I have tried to find a picture online but none show this view.

The cartridge is GROHE part number 46048000.
