I have used compression fittings which seems to be OK. Mine are in plasterboard and have set them up to test before I cover them up. plenty of tape on the 1/2" threads connecting to the mixer and plenty of joining compound on the compression joint.

I have then switched to plastic to run back to a manifold to keep the joints to a minimum, (I don't have time to learn how to do solder copper and it means I can test all the circuits independently.

Could have used plastic to 1/2" adapters but they cost a lot and I had already bought the compression adapters.
