I need to remove excess grout on the surface of a ceramic tile counter. There is dried grout all over the new tile countertop. It has dried and I can't get it off with soap, water, and a nylon scouring pad. Help

best way to get it off is a sharp blade and scrape it,stanley make a holder for their blades so its like a proper scraper but with a very sharp edge, the blade just pushes in,you can get one from any diy store or hardware shop...

...in case this helps anyone else whose excess grout hasn't completely cured yet (could be weeks after the job was done) -a couple of hours soak with a sugar solution softens the grout. Large bits should then be removed with a sharpened block of hardwood, & then scrub the rest with a nylon scouring pad -the kind for dishwashing- & plenty of water
