Squeek asks how to mix up sugar solution to remove old grout from tiles.
Quote from my earlier post: "...in case this helps anyone else whose excess grout hasn't completely cured yet (could be weeks after the job was done) -a couple of hours soak with a sugar solution softens the grout. Large bits should then be removed with a sharpened block of hardwood, & then scrub the rest with a nylon scouring pad -the kind for dishwashing- & plenty of water"
The sugar would be about a cupful to a gallon of water, dissolve it first in some very hot water & then dilute it.
It helps but it's still probably a lot of work ahead of you... good luck!
