Having read previous posts re the carcinogens in railway sleepers, is there a safe alternative of the same dimensions that can be used in the vicinity of a vegetable patch?

At present I have a row of them forming a border with the lawn and are recessed into the ground. I also have them supporting a raised border and intend to put the vegetable patch below it and am concerned about leaching.

quite right shouldnt be used. we build all our raised beds either using oak or pressure treated softwood sleepers. look much better, easier to lift, cut and fix together.
