hi all
i had the engineer around today to fix an issue on my boiler(glow warm economy plus 50)
he did something on the pump as well, as the boiler kept cycling constantly and frequently than it should- will stay on for about 20 min and then on/off every 30/20 seconds.

anyway now i have found out that the pump is on constantly even though no heating or HW is being called for. the system is on timer and its all off at the moment.
however i can hear the pump humming and its vibrating when touched.

can someone please tell me what is going on and if there is anything i can do to stop this

or what is causing this?

i intend to get the engineer back but he is away for the weekend now.

thank you

thanks. is there anything i can do to correct this?

how to i remove t he motorized valve?

thank you

Depending on valve type you may be able to replace just the electric part. Is it a Honeywell valve?

Does the pump keep running with the prog switched to off?

Does turning room and cul stats down have any effect?

hi
no effect. pump still stays on with the room stat turned completely off.

also pump keep running with the the program switched off

sorry what is cul stat? apologies for my ignorance

thanks

thanks Breesey

turned cylinder stat off and nothing happened. pump continued to run.

strange thing is i woke up this morning and pump was off(nice and quite in the house and i thought great .
after about an hour it came on again on its own, without heating or HW being demanded and it has stayed on till now.

quite strange..

If it was a motor valve switch fault then the boiler would be providing heat as well as running the pump.

If we knew what he had done that would help. Maybe he has connected it to an incorrect supply point.

If the boiler has pump over run then could be at fault.

thanks
the engineer came in to change the boiler stat, i.e the bit with the long copper cable to detect heat level the boiler is providing and cut off if necessary.

this was because of the boiler cycling strangely i.e on for 30 seconds and off for 20 seconds-and kept doing this cycling. engineer said that was the likely suspect- funny enough the strange cycling problem is still present, although heating and hot water seem to be working.

the pump-the bit under(white bit) that you turn- what is that for? is it to turn the pump off and on?
i turned it a bit yesterday and the pump stopped the humming. i thought great. but when i turned the heating on, it started banging and making a lot of noise-i shut the system down immediately at the mains and reverted that switch under the pump to where it was. i turned mains on and the humming started again.

many thanks
