anyone know if this unit requires a trap on the outlet?

doesnot say in the MI, but was thinking (again :D )that if the boiler is not used then the conlift unit will be dry, this will allow stinky smelly wellys from sewer to enter the conlifts vacinity. :?:

I fit an washing machine stand pipe when fitting them, and hook the tube over the top.

we more often than not, go vertical (using a 90degree bend on 22mm copper as a sleeve into the loft\ceiling space) then continual fall (overflow pipe) then tee into a basin\bath waste or the soil stack, using no traps inbetween.
i know most boilers use a condensate trap but obviously when using a condensate pump there may be an air break that allows the smells to surface, but like i said no mention of this in the Grundfoss blurb.

I've never read the grundfos blurb, perhaps tomorrow I will

dont bother it is rubbish.

BTW - i noticed that the have now put a plastic adapter in the box that fits into plumb center 21.5mm overflow fittings (at long last! - why dont boiler manufactures give you a selection of adapters?) and the other end connects to the small diameter outlet hose.

The tube is always full of water once the thing has started. Recipe for freezing in my opinion.

It doesn't look like it is going to last long, bit disappointing really considering the brand.......

Anyone have a better lifter they could recommend? Haven't tried the Vaillant one yet.

i think we used a Gloworm branded unit last year that, if i remember, seemed much more rugged and easier to set up etc.

Fitting things without reading the manufacturers instructions first?

Thats half the fun Tony, trying to figure out which bit goes where

Especially boiler casings

Had a posh toilet seat once with over 30 bits of plastic  that was fun.

Got it wrong - it was the Saniflow Sanicondens that was a pain in the butt, and the Grundfoss is actually easier to instal, though it is still a bit flimsy in my opinion. Needs protection especially when it is wall mounted as its fixing surrounds are plastic and its held on by 2 screws only.
