Gulfstream 2000

Hi all!

I've got a bit of a problem, with my Gledhill Gulstream 2000. The AAV (or the PRV, not sure yet, the red button thing on top of the boiler) has been getting dirty and leaking, resulting other parts of the boiler getting damp.

Does anyone know what might be causing this? The pressure appears to have dropped to 0.4 bar (having been at just over 1 bar).

I attach a picture of the offending bit.

It might clear things up...

Its an automatic air vent and its dead, the cap on the top can be tightened to stop it leaking until you can replace it

it looks to me like a flexon AVV and probably has been installed onto a 1/2" bsp non return valve, so you can undo and replace it with the minimum of mess

its an aav to auto -matically vent air from the system .they get dirt on their seals which cause them to leak, v. common .
as a temporary repair tighten the red cap (normally this is left loose)
Its a fairly simple cheap job to fix.

Whoops - got so far into the Gledhill manual I never saw the clarification that it was actually the AAV not PRV.....

how did you make out its on a permanent fill croyden??

I can only see a Pressure reducing valve on the pic, and I am sure the gulfstream is an openvented heat store and as such does not need a filling loop?

wot no air gap ,are u sure ,surely not WRAC approved?

Its a open vented heat store??? the air gap is set in the feed and expansion cistern witht he ballvalve

There are TWO versions of both Gulfstream models, one open-top, the other with the strange filling device.

Agreed but I can find no reference to a "strange filling device" on their website, it just points to the usual removable filling loop as per water regs?

what is it??
