Gypsum Wall

Hi

I've just finished moving an electrical outlet a couple of feet on a gypsum faced wall. All is done and filled however now it's down to the gypsum

. What is concerning me is that do I have to apply 4 layers of gypsum as was originally applied or is a single layer sufficient?
