Hi everyone,

Firstly apologize for grammar, not English native :(

I have a recent crack in the beam (?) joining with wall. This is above the staircase. There are 2 main concern

1. The horizontal crack on the wall, looks like bad craftmanship on the joining process ?
2. The hairline horizontal crack on the beam, not sure what is this. Is this structural damage ? Can it be fixed. The house is relatively new (2 yrs)

Many thanks,

Tuan

Australian buildings are different from ours. Is your house timber-framed?

I think the wall you show is drywall/rockwall/plasterboard with taped joints.

Is the crack getting wider? Is it visible on the other side of the wall?

Bingo re:Australian building. And yes it is timber frame. I think the side I'm showing is drywall with tape, the crack isnt getting wider. Not visible on the other side.
