Despite slapping on lots of coats of unibond down to 3 to 1 haircline cracks have formed. How bad might these get as it dries, and should we have put on a coat of unibond and let that dry a few days earlier - would that have helped?

Cheers!

was there cracks in the old plaster before u replastered it, if it was you should have put some scrim cloth over them before u skimmed , there are so many diffrent reasons for cracking to appear ...plaster drying to kwik.. movement.. hope this helps a little

I think its because the plaster dried too quick, it was over some exposed render, some painted plaster being replastered. The painted bits are fine but the new plaster over the render is all a web of tiny cracks...

Will it paint over ok? Will it break up / weaken over time?

Cheers!

it should be ok ..put a bit of filler over it. then sand down before painting ..good luck...

Yes, killng the suction would probably have done the job.

As long as you can't feel teh cracks as you rub your fingernail across , it should paint up okay. Even if so , as long as it is sound , you could aimes and rub down no worries.

Can I use a tub of unibond finishing skim instead of aimes?

Cheers!
