overloaded mcb or fuse maybe? Did you have all the lights on when they stopped working or more than usual
Callum, when you say you have lost your lighting to loft, hallway etc, do you mean the fuse has blown or is it that all the power seems to be on but they dont work?
As John D states the most likley cause is the bathroom light as it was okay before you installed it. Do you know if these light are fed from the same circuirt/fuse as the bathroom light?
I would be thoroughly checking your connections inside the bathroom light.
