Hi, I switched lights from normal single lights to a small 3 light unit. Upstairs light is fine and so is one of the downstairs lights. I thought that maybe the 3rd unit/light was faulty so I put back on the old one, and now that's not even working, ill take a pic. I don't know what I've done wrong.

Well, it all seems as it should be.

Is there perhaps a fuse somewhere that may have blown?
Has any thing blown/tripped in the consumer unit?

The latter would probably affect something else as well.

Have you a meter which can test for voltage?

The other light off the same switch works fine. But that light has two of every wire. If the earth wire is touching bare off plasterboard would that effect it?

So you have replaced three lights and one does not work, it is possible you have made an error in the previous fitting to the one that no longer works, first check for loose connection and that you have not trapped the conductors PVC insulation.

Does that mean a wire could be snapped further up into the celling or do I need to use insulation tape?

It means that maybe you have introduced a fault at the previous light, by incorrect termination, this would require looking at, even if this light works, it does not mean the faults is not at that location or that the cable has broken within the fittings terminal, therefore loss of contact.
