Halogen light bulbs with no front

I have some imported halogen light bulbs (12v 20W) that have no glass on the front like the ones they sell in this country. Is there a problem with that?

If so, can they still be used in sealed spotlights, with a glass cover on the front, like the ones for bathrooms?

They should be OK. You can get open ones in the UK too

we have the same ones plastered all over our boat, always wondered if they are safe?? They are fitted as standard by sealine ( one of u.k's biggest boat builders) must say tho, they never have needed replacing yet and they have done 10 years of been used 6 months of the year!
