I have a Halstead Finest Gold Combi boiler which has recently developed a curious fault.
About a month ago I first heard the boiler making a constant clicking noise. Upon inspection I realised that the spark electrode was constantly firing about once per second even though the central heating was on.
I then realised that the CH was not even set to be on.
Pretty much constantly the CH is on even when switched off at the timer control. Intermittently the spark electrode fires constantly, but this doesn't happen most of the time. Sometimes, the boiler behaves correctly so I don't think the timer switch is at fault.
I now have to switch the boiler off at the mains to stop the CH being on constantly.
I have fitted a reconditioned PCB (part 500585), but the problem is still the same.
Any ideas will be gratefully received!
Cheers in advance
