I have a heavy (25kg) bath screen to fit over the bath but it's being attached to a partition wall (stud). What is the best way to fix it?

I was thinking of bolting some battening on the studs and fixing the screen into that (as I have to replace some crumbling plasterboard with aquapanel as I'll be showering over the bath (obviously!)). Is that the best/safest thing or do you guys have a better solution?

Thanks

including some timber noggings between the studs prior to re-boarding is an excellent idea and would be ideal. if you have already bought the screen, then un-package the parts and line up the noggings with the fixing holes already drilled into the wall mounting channel.

Is it best to fix it before tiling or tile and then fix it by drilling through the tiles? If I do it after tiling would the weight of it be likely to crack teh surrounding tiles or would the weight distribution mean that wouldn't be an issue?

Thanks

you will be able to drill a hole straight through the tiles with a sharp masonry bit. just remember to take it off hammer.

if the pre-drilled holes in the fixing channel happen to coincide with a tile joint, just drill a new hole in the channel away from the vulnerable joint.

make the noggings wide enough for this scenario.
